Christopher Bezaire, who pleaded guilty to charges of stalking a former girlfriend and contempt of court, told the outlet that he resigned from the council last November.
The invasion of privacy charge involves an allegation he knowingly disclosed intimate or sexual material of a person without their consent, according to court records.
The Cape May County Herald said Bezaire may not have to serve any more jail due to time served previously.
The Press of Atlantic City reported that Bezaire was charged with contempt for contacting the fiancé of a former girlfriend to get her to drop accusations she’d made. Bezaire, a realtor, was ordered not to contact the woman.
He was charged with stalking after trying to contact another woman for several weeks causing emotional distress, the Press said.
